Unfortunately, Dorothy had a little bit of regression in the past day. Her oxygen levels are up a bit, both on her back as well on her front.
She also had a couple more fevers since yesterday’s update. They are broadening the antibiotics that they are using to cover more possible conditions, even though the cultures they are taking are showing the same underlying infection.
They also changed her pain medication because she had maxed out on the dosage of the previous medication. The new pain meds are a bit stronger.
She is still receiving medication to increase her blood pressure, but they have been able to slowly decrease the amount over the past couple of days, so a bit of good news in today’s update.
Thanks for the update, Brian.
Thanks for the update. Why does Dorothy need pain medication if she is sedated?
Good question, and something that I’ve not asked the doctors myself. I would imagine that the pain meds and the sedative work together to keep her under.
I read a bit online and it sounds like that’s the case. I’m grateful her care team are able to keep her comfortable/asleep through all this.
Ask the doctor about the meds. It would be good to know.
Thanks again for the update. Dad is not feeling well tonight. I am sure it is from his shot.
Thanks, Brian. You are all continually in my prayers.
How are you and the boys doing.
The boys are doing really well. They go about their daily routine and have just been absolute champs through all of this. I’m mostly trying to do the daily routine thing. It’s better during the week when I have work. Weekends and night are a bit harder. I do get rather emotional a lot, but overall am doing fine.
Thinking of you guys every day!
I did ask about the pain medication vs. the sedative tonight, and the nurse I spoke to confirmed that they do use both (that is, there are a couple of different types of medication). As we suspected, the reason for the pain medication is to help keep her sedated and not have the pain bother her sleep.
